Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Hollis James Chalker, Sr., age 92 of Chalker Road, Gibson, who died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in the University Hospital, McDuffie.

 Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Magnolia Baptist Church, Gibson, with Rev. Jimmy Richardson and Rev. James Canada officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Pallbearers will be:  Michael Gilmer, Jeffrey Chalker, Wayne Landrum, Denny Landrum, Marvin Johnson and Barney Johnson. 

 A native of Glascock County, Hollis was a son of the late Will Chalker and Addie Hammock Chalker.  He was a member of the United States Army and served in the Korean War, was a boiler operator at Fort Gordon and a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church.

 Hollis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Lankford Chalker; brothers, Russell Chalker, Gerald Chalker and Clarance Chalker; sisters, Christine Landrum and Corene Chalker and is survived by his son, James and Tonya Chalker of Gibson; grandchildren, Will, Colton and Morgan Chalker, Jut Hughes and Lisa and Ronnie Black of Gibson; brother, Winnard and Hazel Chalker of Thomson; sisters, Helen Johnson of Conyers, Betty and Lewis Johnson of Thomson, Wilma and Olin Mathis of Gibson and Frankie and Mose Griswell of Gibson; several nieces and nephews.

 The Chalker family will received friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, November 3, 2017 at the funeral home. 

 Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Gibson is in charge of arrangements.
