Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Charlie Britton “Britt” Searcy III, age 72 of Bartow, who entered into rest Monday morning December 10, 2018 at his residence.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 13, in the Thigpen Family Cemetery, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Avera, with Mr. Joe Cheeks, Mr. Mitchell McGraw and Mr. Mike Thigpen officiating. Pallbearers will be: Tyler Thigpen, Tyler Cobb, Shane Barrow, Paul Searcy, Jim Poole & Chris Poole, Honorary Pallbearers will be: Melvin Dye, Hubert Cheeks, Bill Bragg, Wayne Mathis, Frank Etheridge & Popeye’s Coffee Club.
A native of Jefferson county, Britt was a son of Charley Britton Searcy, Jr and Effie Pearl Poole Searcy. He was a 1965 graduate of Louisville Academy, a veteran of the Georgia National Guard, attended Augusta Technical College and retired as a senior buyer for Thermo King Industries after 39 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, M.E. & Edna Cramer Poole, paternal grandparents, Mary McCants & Charley Searcy Jr. and is survived by his loving wife of over 48 ½ years, Marsha Thigpen Searcy of Bartow, son and daughter in law, Drew & Alicia Searcy of Grovetown, son, Adam Searcy of Evans, granddaughter, Britton Kay Searcy of Grovetown, grandson Braydon Searcy of Grovetown, sister and brother in law, Sherri & Barry Cobb of Louisville, brother, Maurice Searcy, of Gibson, brothers and sisters in law; Bob & Deborah Barrow of Stapleton, Milt & Carol Scherotter of Parker, Co., Mike & Barbara Thigpen of Martinez, uncle and aunt, Curtis & Patricia Poole of Louisville, many nieces & nephews, and extended members of the Neal Family.
The family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 12, at the funeral home.
