Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Mr. Charlie Roy Hall, age 72, of Bartow who died Friday, April 16, 2021 in the University Hospital Augusta.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 18, 2021 in the Hall family cemetery at his residence in Bartow with Rev. Jerry Pitman officiating. Pallbearers will be employees of Iron Ax, Inc. and Universal Scrap & Recyclers.
A native of Wadley, Mr. Hall was the son of the late Roy M. Hall and Virginia Lewis Hall. He was a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church. A business owner since the age of 20, Mr. Hall began his career as a logger. In 1972, he discovered his passion for the scrap metal recycling industry and opened Universal Scrap & Recyclers. His first recycled cars were crushed by logs and loaded onto log trailers. By the late 1980s, he founded Iron Ax, Inc., began manufacturing equipment for the scrap industry, and patented the Iron Ax shear and auto flattener. In his later years, Mr. Hall enthusiastically enjoyed his grandchildren and restoring vintage cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, Linda Cobb Hall and is survived by daughter, Kimberly Kitchens (Johnny) of Louisville, son, Keith Hall (Jeanne) of Bartow, grandchildren, Stevin Hall, Thomas Hall, Susanna Hall, Jonathan Kitchens, Caroline Kitchens, sister, Betty Rose Tarver (Jim) of Zephyrhills, FL., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers, Delois Hudson, Sarah Kelly, Ellen Tarver, and Jeannette Thompson.
