Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Jerry Wayne Cofer, age 65, of Zebina Road, Louisville who died Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in the care of Pruitt Health of Old Capital.
Private graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2020 in the Louisville City Cemetery with Rev. Bill Cain officiating. Services may be viewed live at the Taylor Funeral Homes Facebook page.
Mr. Cofer was born in Louisville to the late C.H. Cofer, Jr. and Juanita Davis Cofer and has lived in Louisville for the past 30 years. Jerry graduated from Jackson High School in 1972 and obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Brewton Parker and a Master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Mr. Cofer was a retired counselor for the Jefferson County Board of Education, a deacon, choir member and Sunday school teacher at Louisville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, and an actor with The Schoolhouse Players.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and niece, Allison (Sunny) Brock. He is survived by his brother, John Cofer, sisters, Diane Cofer Barnes (David) and Julie Cofer, all of Louisville, nieces, Tanya Cofer, Bonnie Sargent Wormsley, Kari Johnson, and Jennifer Young, and nephew, Chip Sargent.
Those desiring, in lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
