Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Mrs. Joy McGahee Hadden, age 62, of Academy Drive, Louisville, who passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 20, 2022, at AU Medical Center following an extended illness.
The funeral will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Louisville, burial will be immediately following the services at Walden’s UMC Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, she was married for 32 years to the late Murray Hadden.
Joy was a 1977 graduate of Glascock County High School. After graduation she began working in the office of the Jefferson County Recreation Dept. She was later employed by Forstmann and Company as a computer technician. Joy loved children and for several years operated a daycare at her home in Louisville. In 2002 Joy was hired to manage the Mattress Gallery in Thomson, newly opened by Hughes Furniture.
Joy’s expertise was interior decorating. She worked with clients locally in Augusta and in Charleston, SC. She was employed by Southern Home Interiors in Louisville as a decorator and later became owner/operator of that business as Joy’s Décor and More.
Preceded in death by her father, Roy Thomas McGahee, she is survived by her mother, Betty Brown McGahee and brother Mike McGahee of Stapleton, uncles GC McGahee of Augusta and Howard Blackburn of Charleston, SC and several cousins.
The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm on Monday at Taylor Funeral Home in Louisville.
