Margaret Mahany Obituary

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Margaret Lindsay Keever Mahany, age 91 who departed this life on July 12, 2020.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in the Louisville City Cemetery. Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. The wearing of face masks is encouraged. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jake Johnson, Henry Johnson, Ben Tapley, Charles Tapley, Donnie Evans and Caleb Johnson.

Lindsay, fondly known as Lin, was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on January 3, 1929, a daughter of the late Daniel Murchison Keever & Bess Leona Cozzens. Lin was one of the founding members of St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Louisville, GA.  She served as Senior Warden of the Church for many years.  Even in her declining years, she was genuinely concerned about the Church members and wanted to know how all were doing.  Lin retired as a Sr. Vice President from First National Bank & Trust Company, now known as Queensborough, after many years of service. She worked as a loan officer. The family cherishes the many stories they hear from her customers about how she helped them begin a new business, or get their very first vehicle, or helped them get the funds they needed to get through college, or just taught them how to save for the future.  We thank you for your stories and it warms our hearts to know that she was a blessing to so many. She lived in Louisville, Georgia for most of her life, but spent some of her life living in Savannah, Georgia on Isle of Hope for which she had very fond memories.

Lin was the wife of the late Henry L. Mahany, Jr.  She is survived by their four ‘girls,’ as she always referred to her adult daughters, Linda Mahany Springer (Stan), Laura Susan Mahany, and the babies, Leigh Mahany Johnson (Doodle) and Elizabeth (Libo) Mahany Devine (Jimmy).

She was also fondly known as Nana (pronounced Nan naw), survived by seven grandchildren, Lindsay Mae Cobb (David), Jake Johnson (Daphne), Henry Johnson (Joanna), Ryan Johnson (Tom), Donnie Evans (Amanda), Cara Tapley Cowart (Ashley), Benson Tapley (Stacie) and Charles Tapley.  She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren. Nana always laughed when she remembered one her great grands telling her, “You are the oldest person I know!”

The family will receive friends 3:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday July 14, at the home of Leigh & Doodle Johnson 1011 Highway 296 Louisville

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church at 321 W 7th St, Louisville, GA 30434.

Taylor Funeral Home and cremation care of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
