Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Melvina Raines Blocker, 83, of Wadley, died Monday, March 9, at her home after an extended illness.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 13, in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home Louisville with Rev. David Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Moxley Cemetery.
Melvina was a native of Cordele, GA, but had lived in Jefferson County for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Melvin T. and Mary Lee Hartley Farrer, a graduate of Wadley High School, a long-time member of Moxley Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Tilla Raines, Sr., and Robert “Junior” Blocker; siblings, Marie (C. W.) Hutchins and Emory “Pete” (Penny) Farrer; and grandson, Josh Raines.
She is survived by her children Tilla Raines, Jr. (Michael), of New York; Thad (Lora) Raines and Della Rachels, of Bartow; and Steve Raines, of Wadley; grandchildren Rebecca Dallavalle, Heather (Joey) Williams, Holly (Mike) Oliver, Stephen Brandon (Laura) Raines, and Autumn Raines; fourteen great-grandchildren; two stepsons and their children and grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 12, at the funeral home.
