Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Mr. Stephen Farrer Raines, 59, of Bartow who died Monday, September 6, 2021, at his residence after an extended illness. A celebration of life will be 3:00-5:00 pm Saturday, September 11, in the Taylor Funeral Home Louisville, Friends and family are invited to attend.

Steve, known as “Skip” to his siblings and Papa to his grandchildren, was born in Louisville. Son of the late Tilla and Melvina Raines, he attended Wadley and Louisville High Schools and Moxley Baptist Church. He was a carpenter, and his handiwork can be seen in many area homes. He had served in the Georgia Army National Guard 878th Engineering Battalion, Company B, Detachment 1, Louisville. Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman before his illness, but his greatest pastime was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Joshua Farrer Raines.

Steve is survived by daughters, Holly Oliver (Mike), Kansas City, Missouri, and Autumn Raines (Kenny), Bartow; son, Stephen Brandon Raines (Laura), Kansas City; sister, Della Rachels, Bartow; brothers, Tilla Raines (Michael), New York, and Thad Raines (Lora), Wadley; and grandchildren, Dylan, Landen, Jordan, Macon, Kaden, Lux, Aaliyah, Hannah, and Kady, several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Family request in Lieu of flowers to make donations to the funeral home to help with expenses.
