Taylor funeral home of Gibson announces the death of Mr. Thomas Howard Perry, 71 of Buck Road Mitchell who died Wednesday morning December 15, 2021, at his residence with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday December 18, 2021 in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell City Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Christopher “Aaron” Gunby, McKenzie “Mac” Perry, Brandon Parijs, Dakota “Cody” Jordan, Nathan Perry & Christopher Black.
Tom was born in Lawrence County KY., on Augusta 27, 1950 a son of the late Rex Perry & Inez Marie Baldridge. He was a cherished husband, father, papa, brother, and friend. He was a Veteran having served in the Navy and United States Marines. He married the love of his life Alvalene in 1970 together they raised four children. Over his lifetime Tom worked in many career fields. He was a craftsman in concrete, worked on the river on tugboats, was an EMT and drove long haul semi-trucks in the USA & also in Iraq. Towards the end of his career he worked as a utility inspector with natural gas until he retired in 2018. Tom never met a stranger. Over his lifetime he has met & cherished friendships from many walks of life. His love for his family was only exceeded by his love for the Lord. Tom stood on God’s faithfulness and he conveyed to his family during his last days at home to be absent from this body means “I’ll be in the presence of the Lord”
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother, & sister in-law, Vernon Rex & Olive Perry, brother-in-laws Richard Cathcart and Colonel Preston. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Alvalene Perry, of Mitchell, daughter Starla Allen (Bill) of Mitchell, sons, Vernon Rex Perry (Valarie) of Gibson, Steven Thomas Perry (Stacey) of East Maryland, MD., Jason Scott Perry (Kathy) of Mitchell, sisters, Patricia Louise Cathcart, Live Oak, FL., Phyllis Rae Kirkendall (Bill), Wauseon, OH., Virginia M. Preston, of Louisa, KY., Nancy Ann (Marvin) May of Louisa, KY, brother Nicholas Jack (Carolyn) Perry, Pigeon Forge, Tenn., 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday December 17, at the funeral home.
